  • How To's ~ Trying to crop an item

Hi, I'm trying to isolate a turned foot from a sofa but when I remove all the other elements I'm left with 3 partial or floating legs. How can I isolate just one leg? I can't seem to be able to crop the others out. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Rebecca,

Are you talking about a mms image in Studio? Or an jpeg image? Did you try to ungroup the last group?

Can you give us the .mms file and we'll see if we can help you find a solution.

Most of the sofas with turned feet are able to be ungrouped (sub-select the wood area) so that you can select just one leg or foot. Some of the sofas were drawn so that the legs are all of a piece and they cannot be treated separately. Once you have clicked and clicked again to Ungroup, and then right clicked to see if any elements are further protected from ungrouping, you've gone as far as you can. Tight Back with Feet A02, F02, F03 are examples of sofas that cannot have their legs ungrouped.

Just for fun I drew some bun feet, copying two from Van Dyke's Restorers [ www.vandykes.com ]. When you are drawing a design for a carpenter to build, use dimensions of "real" parts that are readily available such as these furniture feet.

Becca is designing a darling reading nook for a girl's room -- a built-in bench with turned legs, comfy cushion and pillows. Maybe she will post the rendering!
