Recently, I have had a couple of people request the photos of my office. I decided to post them here to share with everyone. Years ago we spent a couple of days contemplating the best way to lay out one of our offices to maximize the space. We have 9' ceilings which is great but this room is incredibly small. Below are a few things we did to make sure we used every inch to the max.
- Mounted cabinets all the way up to the ceiling.
- Added lots of custom cubby holes for easy access to paper, envelopes and vendor catalogs.
- We added open bookshelves to store vendor binders and some of my favorite books.
- Added large pull out keyboards to conserve floor space.
- Added large pencil drawers.
- Added several drawers for hanging file folders.
- Left a large opening under desk to store printers. (Didn't want printers to take up valuable desktop space.)
- Added cork board to wall behind desks.
- Added wire magazine racks to store magazines.
- Painted the wall to match the fabric of the window treatment; wanted the room to look as large as possible.
- Mounted the window treatment to the ceiling.
- For durability we used white Formica for the countertops.
- Added track lighting which allows us to position light where needed. (However, these heat up the room; need to look into florescent blubs)
- Mounted ceiling fan to keep the room cooler in summer.
